Extinction Rebellion Sheffield is will reaffirm their declaration a rebellion against the government
At 13:00PM on Saturday 14th of September we will march from Union St. Cooperative to Sheffield Town Hall.
On Saturday the 14th of September, Extinction Rebellion Sheffield is taking part in declaring a nation-wide rebellion against our ecocidal government. We demand that all levels of government sanction solutions to the climate and ecological crises. We will be marching from Union St. Cooperative to Sheffield Town Hall before making speeches and taking part in an act of rebellion against our government.
Humanity finds itself embroiled in an event unprecedented in its history. One which, unless immediately addressed, will catapult us further into the destruction of all we hold dear: this nation, its peoples, our ecosystems and the future of generations to come.
There is no time to delay when the safety and security rests on appropriate government legislation.
We demand that our voices be heard and that our efforts in protecting our ecosystem for future generations come to fruition. The government must tell the truth on the climate crisis. The government must commit to carbon neutrality by 2025. The government must create a citizen’s assembly to guide their reaction to the climate and ecological crisis.

About Extinction Rebellion:
Time has almost entirely run out to address the ecological crisis which is upon us, including the 6th mass species extinction and abrupt, runaway climate change. Societal collapse and mass death are seen as inevitable by scientists and other credible voices, with human extinction also a possibility, if rapid action is not taken.
Extinction Rebellion believes it is a citizen’s duty to rebel, using peaceful civil disobedience, when faced with criminal inactivity by its Government.
Extinction Rebellion’s key demands are:
The Government must tell the truth about the ecological emergency, reverse inconsistent policies and work alongside the media to communicate with citizens
The Government must enact legally binding policy measures to reduce carbon emissions to net zero by 2025 and to reduce consumption levels
A national Citizens’ Assembly to oversee the changes, as part of creating a democracy fit for purpose.
